Greece: real estate tax is canceled in the outback

Kiryakos Pierrakakis on the 89th Δεθ clarified what the prime minister announced Kiryakos Mitsotakis: real estate tax Enfia Gradually disappears for small settlements. For “liberation” – fall 12.720 villages throughout the country.

The scheme is simple and politically profitable: since 2026, the tax has been reduced by 50%, and from 2027 it disappears completely for houses, which are considered the main residence of the owner. Condition: The population of the village is less than 1,500 people, and the total value of the object does not exceed 400,000 euros. Athens and rich suburbs, of course, are excluded. The only relief is for the islands of Attica.

The full list is here.

According to the calculations of the government, the relief will affect 1 million citizens. The price of the issue is approximately 75 million euros per year. The irony is that we are talking about areas with low objective housing prices, which means that the treasury still loses nothing.

This is officially called the “support of the province.” Informally – a classic election gift, designed for the applause of the hinterland. Because it was there that the tax was perceived not like a “fiscal instrument”, but as a robbery.

Bottom line: 12.720 villages They are left without Enfia, but millions of residents of large cities continue to pay taxes on their own homes. Athens again divide the country into “their own” and “strangers” – only now through tax benefits.
