The attack was made at the transformer station in the oil pipeline, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siyyarto.
Budapest receives the bulk of the oil precisely in “friendship”, which stretches from Russia through Belarus and Ukraine to Hungary and Slovakia.
Siyyarto specified that he had already talked with the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel SorokinBut he admitted: it is not yet clear when it is possible to restore pumping.
Hungary traditionally retains close political and business communications with Russiaand also relies on Moscow on the issue of energy. Back in 2024, Siyyarto stated that Friendship would remain the main channel of oil imports for the country.
It is worth noting that the interruptions in deliveries were earlier: last week, the pumping was already temporarily stopped.
The reason was then the attack of Ukrainian drones on August 13 on the oil refinery in Utych (Bryansk region, Russia). It was this blow that caused interruptions in the full stop of transit.
