Donald Trump again plays the Savior of the world. Raise the degree of threats to the apocalypse, and then solemnly “solve the problem” – a proven technique. This time, in Moscow, his messenger Steve Whitkoff is waiting for his messenger: it is possible that it will be about a new deal in Tyo. But as if again it turned out that the leaders win, and Ukraine remains a pawn in a foreign party.
Trump and nuclear rhetoric: words that are difficult to believe
Donald Trump He was again in the spotlight, announcing the transfer of atomic submarines and US readiness for nuclear war with Russia. However, his statements are increasingly doubtful: too many contradictions, disabilities and frank exaggerations.
The expert environment draws attention to the fact that such a rhetoric is more like an element of a political show. The script is simple: to raise a degree of threats, and then present himself to a peacekeeper who “Prevented the Apocalypse”. That is how many explain the current “nuclear course” of Trump.
Such tactics are not new. They recall the end of 2022, when the United States and Russia secretly agreed on restraint in the issue of tactical nuclear weapons. Then in Ankara were the director of the CIA William Burns and the head of the SVR Sergey Naryshkin. As a result, Moscow abandoned the scenario of the use of Tyo, and Washington convinced Kyiv not to develop an attack on Crimea. The agreement worked, but precisely because its conditions were specific and verified.
Today the situation is different. Moscow changed the nuclear doctrineHaving allowed the use of weapons in case of war with nuclear countries through their proxies. And Trump, unlike Burns, gives only loud statements without specifics. Experts are wondering: what exactly is he ready to offer Putin? His thesis “Let Europe pays for Ukraine” and is so part of his own strategy. So, you have to look for other concessions.
The problem is that Trump’s statements too often diverge from business. Today he talks about strict pressure, tomorrow – about readiness for a deal, the day after tomorrow – about the need to “save humanity.” As a result, it becomes more difficult to believe his words, and the uncertainty around the nuclear rhetoric only enhances the risk of escalation.
For Ukraine, such a scenario is dangerous in any case: either the threat of the use of Tao is preserved, or Russia receives additional concessions. So, while Trump is confused in statements, it is Kyiv that remains hostage to the nuclear game of the great powers.
