Russia launched direct passenger flights from Moscow to Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK.
Reuters notes that the launch of a new route occurs against the background of deepening military cooperation between the Russian Federation with North Korea, which supplies the Kremlin weapons and guides its soldiers to participate in the war against Ukraine.
According to the Russian edition of RIA Novosti, on July 20, the first direct passenger flight to the capital of North Korea flew out of the Moscow Airport Sheremetyevo. The flight is operated by the Boeing 777-200er of the Russian airline Nordwind Airlines, capable of transporting up to 440 passengers.
The duration of the flight will be about eight hours, and the departure of the first aircraft took place at 19:00 Moscow time. The Federal Air Transport Agency gave permission to execute flights twice a week, but the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation clarified that while flights will be carried out once a month to “form stable demand.”
