Emergency measures of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in connection with abnormal temperatures (video)

Where the mandatory stop of open -air work is introduced on Sunday July 27 due to abnormal heat.

Open -air work necessarily stops in the below regions of Greece

From 12:00 to 16:00 in the regions:

• Epirus
• Ethlo -caring
• Ahaya
• Elijah
• Messinia
• Ionical Islands

From 13:00 to 17:00 V:

• Attica (with the exception of islands)
• Thrace
• Central Macedonia
• Thessaly
• Ftiotide
• Boeotia
• Evebie (including Chalcedis)
• Corinth
• Argolide
• Laconia
• On the islands of Lesbos, Hios, Samos and Rhodes.

All manual work performed in open air fall under the restrictionsincluding:

1. Construction facilities
2. Shipbuilding and repair zones
3. Transportation and delivery of goods (including mopeds, bicycles, skateboards, rollers, etc.).

The measure applies to all employees, regardless of the form of employmentincluding those who work through digital platforms (in accordance with Article 68 of Law 4808/2021). If the work of delivery services stops, this applies to all companies – both with the physical presence of employees and working only online.

Exceptions and alternative forms of delivery

Delivery is possible only subject to the following conditions:

• Shipment at night from the store/point of issue is allowed.
• It is allowed to use personal or public transport not related to two -wheeled and equipped with air conditioning.

Who will continue to work

Restrictions do not apply to activities vital for societyin sectors such as:

1. Health.
2. Transport.
3. Communal services (water, electricity, etc.).
4. Loading and unloading.
5. Air, sea, ground and railway communication.

In these areas, employers are required to apply alternative organizational and technical measures provided for by circular No. 34666/03.06.2024, including the adjustment of the work schedule.

Responsibility for violation

If the employer violates the prescribed restrictions, the labor inspectorate has the right to impose an administrative A fine of 2000 euros For each employee, as indicated in Articles 23 and 24 of the Law 3996/2011 (State Bulletin a ‘170).

Work from home for risk groups

Employers are obliged, if possible, to transfer employees related to high -risk groups to the remote work (indicated in Appendix 2 to the Circular), especially if they work in the regions where warnings are announced. This applies exclusively in cases when the format of work allows the remote performance of duties.

Special rules for accounting for working time

In order to mitigate the consequences of thermal stress and ensure the flexibility of the schedule, employers are prohibited from making changes to the “Ergani” system regarding the operating mode (start and end time).
