In China, the largest outbreak of a dangerous Chikungunie virus in history is recorded. It is transmitted through mosquitoes, manifested by fever and severe pain.
The World Health Organization warns of a global threat, writes Bloomberg. In the Chinese city of Foshan, in the south of the country, more than 3,100 cases of infection of Chicungy virus were recorded in July alone. Experts note that this is the largest outbreak of the disease since its appearance in mainland China almost two decades ago. The virus is transmitted through Aedes mosquitoes, its symptoms:
- A sharp rise in temperature,
- exhausting joint pain,
- headaches
- General weakness,
- muscle pain.
Over the past week, the number of cases has increased by almost 10 times. WHO warns in an emergency message about the possible spread of the virus to other countries. Chikungunya has already been identified in France and Italy.
According to WHO, more than 5 billion people around the world live in risk zones. Among the causes of a surge of incidence: climate change, moisture growth, international trips and low levels of immunity of the population.
