Ααδε: 450,000 car owners under sanctions for debts for insurance, taxes and inspection

Independent Tax Service of Greece (Ααδε) revealed 450 000* violators for the lack of insurance, tax failure and not passing the inspection (Ktεο). Large fines since August

Ααδε took into a circulation 450,000 owners of vehicles due to violations related to insurance, taxes on the road and inspection (Ktεο). Those who will not correct the situation within three months after the fine are waiting for repeated checks and additional sanctions.

After the summer holidays, about 450,000 owners will receive fines for violations regarding insurance, taxes on the road and Ktεο.

The first large electronic reconciliation, carried out together with General Secretariat of Information Systems, Ministry of Transport, Traffic police, Ktεο And insurance companies (for the first half of the year) showed the real scale of the problem. According to current data:

  • More than 300,000 cars travel without existing insurance.
  • Over 150,000 cars did not pay for taxes on roads (τελών κυκλοφορίας).
  • About the same amount of inspection did not pass Ktεο (fines are accrued when checking, up to 400 euros, which will impose Ααδε), and many are inactive status, but continue to ride.

The strangeness of the situation, according to competent persons, is that many cars without insurance have paid taxes, which indicates their normal operation. At the same time, there are cases when the owners did not pay taxes, but insured the car, creating a contradictory picture requiring the final cleaning of the registry.

Reconciliation is carried out using data from available car registers. The first notifications of fines will begin to arrive from late August until the beginning of September, the checks will be held every six months.

Penfers provided:

  • 250-1000 euros for the lack of insurance.
  • 400 euros and higher for non KtεO.
  • Double amount of taxes on the road for non -payers with additional charges.

Those who do not eliminate violations within three months after the fine will collide with repeated checks and enhanced sanctions.

The problem of driving on non -ruled cars has become a key at a meeting of representatives Professional Chamber of Athens Under the leadership of the president Yannis Hajiteodosuu and with the participation of the president Γσεβε (General Confederation of Professions, Craftsmen and Greece merchants) and a member of the board Georgios Kavvafas With the Minister of Digital Management Dimitris Papstergis.

Hajiteodosuu noted that, despite the law adopted many years ago, providing for electronic reconciliation and High fines There are no significant results to combat the problem.

The minister emphasized that significant preparation was carried out, and in the near future a noticeable reduction in the number of undigested cars is expected. Particular attention is required from those who declared the cars in an inactive status. If they are caught in motion, fines will reach 10,000 euros.

The key role will be played chambers already installed on the main tracksidentifying cars without insurance, Ktεο or traveling contrary to the declared inactive status.

Of the 1388 chambers of 1000, even the faces of drivers will be able to fix. Data will be automatically deducted with the central base Ministry of Transport And Ααδεand fines will be discharged and went online.

Note: about 5.8 million passenger cars are registered in Greece for individuals. About a quarter of them (from 1 to 1.5 million) they stand “on the joke”, that is, it is officially disabled. However, this does not mean that all these cars are faulty. Often, the owners often use them for trips in rural areas, without leaving on the roads where the police can find them. 450 thousand specified in the tax report, these are those Who “came across“.
