In 2017, the Vilnius District Court, considering the case on January 13, sent Gorbachev a summons of interrogation in the case as a special witness, but Russia refused to hand it away.

In the case of crimes against humanity and war crimes, 67 former Soviet soldiers and officers were convicted. Among them are the deceased ex-minister of defense of the USSR Dmitry Yazov.

Most of the accused in the case were convicted in absentia, since Russia and Belarus refused to give them out.
