Two arrests in Geracas for the illegal sale of animals – 27 dogs, a cat and a falcon were found in the cells.
A 42-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were detained, a veterinarian also appears in the case. According to the Greek police, five people are involved in the illegal trade in pets. As an advertisement, they used a store to sell them and provide associated goods and services in the Gerakas area.
Last Wednesday, on the afternoon of June 18, a foreigner and a woman were arrested in Agia Paraskev. Three more, including a veterinarian, are wanted. As a preliminary investigation has shown, the accused posted on a well -known announcement website more than 86 messages about the sale of pets indicating the phone numbers for communication.
Having reached an agreement with potential buyers on the price and place of the transaction, the detainees were obliged to transport animals to them, using commercial transport for this purpose. During investigations conducted in the house and school of dog training, they were found locked in cells:
- 27 dogs of different breeds,
- Sfinky cat,
- hawk.
During the searches, they were found and seized, Writes Cretapost.gr:
- 2 diaries, notebooks in which entries on the advances issued,
- 29 empty animal health brochures,
- a vehicle used for the transportation of animals,
- Two service telephones,
- Three syringes.
According to the police, animals are transferred to competent services to ensure the necessary protection and care. For their acts, the defendants received administrative fines totaling 119,000 euros.
The arrested, along with the materials of the criminal case instituted against them by the police department of the Spat-Artemidos, were taken to the competent prosecutor's office.
