After the Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear objects in alarm for the safety of the Greeks in Israel and Iran

Greece is ready for the risk of a larger conflict in the Middle East, the priority is now the safety of Greek citizens in Iran and Israel.

Yesterday at 18:00, the Government Safety Council held an emergency meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsikitisis, who hurriedly returned from Sweden to evaluate the development of events.

The Greece Foreign Ministry has already involved a crisis management unit to ensure the safety of the Greeks in the region. Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatsidakis said:

“Apparently, Greek diplomatic missions in other countries of the region are informed, and contacts with the Greeks living in these countries have already begun.”

According to available information, so far none of the Greek citizens turned to the exit from Israel for help, Writes CNN GREECE. The corresponding statement of the Greece Embassy in Tel Aviv contained a request for the Greeks living in the area to fill out their information in the appropriate form for security purposes.

At the moment, approximately 4,500 Greeks and family members are in Israel – Jerusalem and on the western coast. About 50-60 Greeks are in Tehran.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Greece citizens who are in the country to remain in a safe place, near the refuge, and follow the instructions of local authorities. The recommendation also applies to trips to Jerusalem, to the west coast and Iran.

The Israeli airspace is closed, and at present there are no flights from Ben-Gurion Airport. Jordanian airspace is also closed.

Meanwhile, the missile released from Iran towards Israel was struck by an apartment building where the Greek basketball coach Dimitris Itdis lives in Tel Aviv, Israeli media reported. However, he is safe in Greece. Dimitris Itdis came to Greece with his family, and, as reported in the article, his apartment was not injured.
