Greece Prime Minister Kiriaconikakis adopted the invitation of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to take part in the Ukrainian Summer South-East Europe summit, which will be held in Odessa.
The visit of Mitsikitis was discussed in telephone conversation two leaders on May 22. Today, the Greek Prime Minister in Odessa takes part in the 4th Summit of Ukraine-Yugo-East Europe, reports CNN GREECE.
According to government officials who will accompany it, it is expected that Kiriakos Mitsikitis in Odessa will confirm the support of Greece to Ukraine, and also emphasize the interest of Greece and Greek companies in participation in projects to restore Ukraine, especially in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
According to Greek business circles, the restoration of Ukraine is the largest economic project of this kind in Europe, offering unique opportunities for enterprises ready to contribute. Ukraine is a field of opportunities and risks, and there are already enterprises that successfully work during the war.
In 2024, the Hebrew Council announced an investment framework program for Ukraine – mechanism EU To support the restoration of Ukraine, which manages, in total, 9.3 billion euros (7.8 billion euros in the form of guarantees and 1.5 billion euros in the form of grants) and, as expected, will attract investments (state and private) for a total of 40 billion euros.
The provision of financing from the investment structure for Ukraine is carried out through indirect management of resources of “acceptable financial institutions”. These are European and multilateral financial institutions of development that have already passed the EU assessment, such as EBRR.
According to analysts, small and medium -sized enterprises are the basis of the Ukrainian economy, they account for 99% of enterprises, they provide 74% of all jobs and create two -thirds (64%) of the added cost of the economy. They play a decisive role in the stability of the Ukrainian economy during the war and will direct the integration of Ukraine into the EU and its single market.
In the course of its visit, it is expected to confirm Kiriakos Mitsikitis to support Greece's support for the prospects of the entry of Ukraine and the countries of the Western Balkans, provided that they will fulfill the conditions and continue the necessary reforms.
Odessa, which the Prime Minister visited in March 2024, is of special historical and emotional significance for Greece, since it is one of the most important centers of Greek education in the diaspora and headquarters of Filiki Eteria-a symbol of historical and cultural ties, government sources note.
Greece plans to contribute to the reconstruction of Odessa, the historical center of which in January 2023 was declared an object of the UNESCO World Heritage.
The leadership of Maximos recalls that the first summit of Ukraine-Yugo-Eastern Europe took place on the initiative of Kiriakos Micotiacisis in August 2023 in Athens. This was the first similar meeting at the level of leaders-with the participation of the leaders of the Western Balkans and the European Member States in the region.
