High arrests in Turkey: from the accounts of foreign tourists "evaporated" 26 million euros

In Turkey, a group of scammers who stole 1 billion 150 million lires (26.3 million euros) from the accounts of foreign tourists was arrested.

This happened in the resort city of Kushadasy on the coast of the Aegean Sea, reported June 7, the Turkish news agency Anadolu. The owner of the hotel transferred these maps of foreign tourists to other hotels and companies renting cars. The police arrested 20 people.

The investigation was launched 4 months ago, “after the message of one of the state banks about suspicious movements in the accounts of people living abroad.”

The leader of the scammers, according to the investigation, was the owner of one of the hotels in the district. After the return of tourists to their countries, their credit cards were used repeatedly, as if they received the services of a hotel and rental of cars, the publication said.

According to preliminary data, 268 foreign citizens suffered from scammers. In total, 20 people were arrested in this case.
