Microsoft Rus LLC, a subsidiary of Microsoft, submits an application for its bankruptcy in the Moscow Arbitration Court. This is due to an attempt to recover 90.9 million rubles from the Russian legal entity as part of an unreasonable enrichment case.
Corresponding notification Published May 30 on the Portal “Fedresurs”. The company’s creditor is Gazprombank, who filed a lawsuit. In January, the bank demanded that Microsoft recover 90.9 million rubles from the Russian legal entity as part of an unjust enrichment case.
From the materials of the case it follows that the claims relate to the technical support contract concluded in September 2021 and operating until September 12, 2022. According to the plaintiff, since April 2022, Microsoft Rus, despite receiving payment in full, has terminated the fulfillment of obligations under the contract.
In April, the court partially satisfied the lawsuit: the company decided to recover 887 thousand dollars as unjust enrichment and another 62 thousand dollars in the form of percent – a total of 949 thousand dollars. The court also decided to calculate the interest on the average weighted interest rate on loans, until the actual payment.
Formally, Microsoft began to turn off activities in the Russian Federation in the spring of 2022 – after the Russian attack on Ukraine, but until recently, the company retained the legal presence in the country. In December 2024, 2025, Microsoft branches were finally closed in 13 Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok and Krasnodar.
Microsoft Rus LLC sharply reduced operational activity after Russian invasion of Ukraine. If in 2021 the revenue amounted to 6.9 billion rubles, then in 2024 this figure fell to 161.6 million rubles. At the same time, the company, according to financial statements, nevertheless showed net profit in the amount of 174.1 million rubles.
