The United States refuses to promise G7 "Further support" Ukraine

The United States opposed the inclusion of the paragraph on the “further support of” Ukraine in the Semey Group (G7), which is discussed in Canada with the Minister of Finance.

On Wednesday on May 21, the publication Politico reports, referring to two officials participating in the negotiations. The United States also does not want to call in the text of the statement G7 Russia's invasion of Ukraine “illegal”.

The meeting of the countries of the “Big Seven” is held in the Canadian city of Banf from May 20 to 22. The G7 finance ministers agreed to continue the support of Kyiv, but they did not agree on the official document, writes Bloomberg.

In February, the United States also opposed Russia to “aggressor” in the context of the invasion of Ukraine in a statement G7, dedicated to the third anniversary of the war. And in mid -April, Washington refused to sign a joint statement with the countries of the G7 with the condemnation of the Russian rocket blow to the sumsas a result of which more than 30 people died.

As previously wrote by Bloomberg, the US President Donald Trump's administration explained the refusal to “work to maintain space for negotiations about peace” and supporting contacts with the Russian authorities.
