The Greek police gives effective advice on protecting against the theft of personal property when you are in a crowded place.
The theft of bags, the phenomenon is quite frequent in public places, entails the loss of many important and valuable things – money, phone, bank cards, house and car keys. Listen to practical recommendations Ελ.ας as the prevention and protection of their property, advises CNN GREECE:
Do not wear large amounts of money in a wallet, handbag or pocket.
Do not put the wallet in the back pocket.
Do not wear credit cards and check books in one pocket or bag.
Do not take a bag with you, going to shops for shops, especially to the places of mass accumulation of people (markets, department stores), as well as during the holidays.
In crowded places, carefully protect your bags and wallet.
Under no circumstances, do not leave the bags open.
Do not leave bags near the dressing rooms of clothing.
Being outdoors or in recreation areas, do not put the bag on neighboring seats or at your feet.
When walking, be sure to go along the inside of the sidewalk, near the buildings, and in the direction opposite to the movement of cars.
Do not put the bag in a prominent place in the car, especially on the passenger seat.
If the driver of the vehicle (car or motorcycle) approaches you to ask for information, do not come close to him.
Do not walk along the dark and deserted streets, especially alone.
Always be on the alert with respect to suspicious persons and movements.
If you have become a victim of “pickpockets” or a witness to the attack, start calling loudly to the rescue.
If you cannot resist and hold the bag, think about the fact that your health and physical integrity are more valuable assets.
Try to remember the signs of the attacker and, if used, the characteristics of the vehicle.
If you were attacked, immediately declare this to the police, saying whether the personality certificate and other important documents were in your bag.
