She was convened by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Cyrus Starmer. Meetings with the leaders of the Coalition countries should ensure the implementation of a possible peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech at the summit of the participating countries of the Joint Expeditionary Force:

He noted the readiness of leaders to support peace negotiations aimed at the technical implementation of the ceasefire and the preparation of a comprehensive peace agreement as soon as possible.
Mertz emphasized that bloodshed should end. Russia must cease its illegal aggression, and Ukraine must provide the opportunity to develop as a sovereign state within its internationally recognized boundaries, as well as for future generations:
“We will continue to expand our support from Ukraine. Until Russia does not agree to a constant ceasefire, we will continue to increase pressure on the Russian military vehicle.”
