Greece: only 50% of candidates were able to pass the citizenship exam

Of the 4222 candidates for Greek citizenship through the naturalization process, 4210 were estimated for foreigners (12 are zeroled due to write-off). The number of successfully passed the exam was 2136 people, or 50.74%.

Candidates who have passed the exam can now contact the competent office on citizenship issues in their region to activate further procedures.

1. Birth citizenship. Automatic receipt of Greek citizenship, regardless of the place of birth of a child, if at least one of the parents is a citizen of Greece.
2. Citizenship through marriage. Foreigners can claim citizenship after three years of marriage with a Greece citizen. Confirmation of the authenticity of marital relations is the certificate of marriage and cohabitation (joint registration).
