In Romania, 100% of the votes in the presidential election were calculated.
Candidate from the ruling coalition Crin Antonescu recognized his defeat in the first round. The leader of the opposition party “Alliance for the Unification of the Romanians”, the extreme right pro -Russian politician, George Simion, won. He stated that he was devoting his victory to Kalin George.
The next vote will be held on May 18. The President of Romania was already held at the end of last year, but the Constitutional Court of the country canceled the results. Won then George, who criticized NATO and military assistance to Ukraine.
In the first round of the repeated presidential elections in Romania, the Euro Romania was won by the Euro -Ceptic, the leader of the Ultra Party “Alliance for the Unification of the Romanians” AUR George Simion. According to official figures, 40.87% of voters voted for it.
The founder of the legalist “Union of Salvation of Romania”, Mayor of Bucharest Nikushor Dan (20.97%) and a candidate from the Left -Gentrist coalition “Romania, forward!” Krin Antonescu (20.13%).
None of the candidates gained more than 50% of the vote, on May 18 the second round of elections should be held, in which Simion and Nikushor will fight for the presidential chair.
The turnout in the first round amounted to 53%. Part of the Romanian diaspora demonstrated strong support to Simion: 77% of the Romanians voting in Italy, and 80% of the Romanians voting in Spain supported the leader of the AUR party.
Noname057 Russian hacker group officially took responsibility for the attack on Romanian sites on the presidential election day. The attacks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and the official website of the candidate Crin Antonescu were attacked.
The National Cybersecurity Directorate (DNSC) announced the restoration of sites at 14:00 Sunday.
