According to the medical news site HealthReport.gr, which announced the tragic incident, the 1st Department said that “during the operation, and closer to its completion, possibly due to a sudden failure in medical equipment of the operating room, there was a flame from which the patient of the age of 2 received burns of the 2nd degree.”

The Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis described the incident as “unacceptable”, in the post in X adding that he ordered an urgent investigation and promised to punish the perpetrator.
