The vessel of the “shadow fleet” of Russia was detained and arrested by Ukrainian law enforcement officers in the Danube 'waters, after loading in the port of Moldova.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine of April 25, the dry cargo ship exported agricultural production from the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine. A foreign ship is part of the Russian shadow fleet. The SBU report says:
“In accordance with the materials of the case, at the end of 2024, the dry load took out 5 thousand tons of wheat from the port of Sevastopol, which was abducted in the temporarily occupied territory of the south of Ukraine. To hide crimes, the craft carried out an illegal raid under the flag of one of the Asian countries.”
In turn, the office of the Prosecutor General clarifies that in April of this year, after loading in the port of Moldova, the ship followed the territorial waters of Ukraine. During the passage of the Danube River, the Sukhograz was detained by law enforcement agencies.
During the search on the ship, documents, navigation equipment and other material evidence confirmed the facts of the Russian agricultural products plunder by Russians. Currently, investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crimes.
Since July 15, 2014, Ukraine officially stopped the functioning of all ports in the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
A few days ago, Ukraine sold the arrested Russian tanker NIKA Spirit, detained on July 24, 2019 in the Izmail port. The ship was identified as used to block the Kerch Strait in November 2018.
