Prices at Greece gas stations delight. What is the reason for their reduction

A significant decrease in liquid fuel prices compared to last year was recorded in April, as a result of a combination of the fall of world prices and strengthening the euro in relation to the dollar.

Non -elected gasoline compared to last year costs 12% cheaper, diesel fuel is sold 13% cheaper, and liquefied oil gas went up by 7%. The period is also favorable for electricity prices: they are slightly higher than last year, however, they demonstrate a significant fall by 33% compared to the beginning of the year.

The average price of unhealthy gasoline, according to the price lists of the Ministry of Development on April 11, is 1.755 euros per liter compared with 1.794 at the beginning of the year and 1.962 in April 2024. Diesel fuel costs 1.522 euros compared to 1.578 in January and 1.715 euros last year.

The reasons for the fall in prices were international shocks caused the introduction of US dutiesas well as fears about the slowdown of the world economy and, accordingly, demand for fuel.

Last week, the price of unhealthy gasoline at the refineries fell by 8 cents per liter, up to 53 cents on April 11, compared with 61 cents on April 4. Taxes, wholesale and retail margins, as well as the rate of profit, are added to the price at the refinery to get the final price at the gas station.

Strengthening the euro in relation to the dollar is also positive for the consumersince world prices for raw oil and oil products are expressed in dollars, Notes CNN GREECE.

In the electricity sectorWhich, in addition to household appliances, is now used to power electric vehicles, the following dynamics are observed: the average retail price in April decreased to 13.8 cents per kilowatt-hour from 17.4 in January (minus the subsidies provided by the state), while in April last year it amounted to 0.11 cents.

The period favors the drop in prices due to excessive production from renewable sources and low demand. Such a combination even leads to problems with stability on the network and forces managers to reduce the production of electricity from renewable sources. The dynamics of prices in the first half of April indicates that if the trend does not change, their decrease will continue in May.
