5 detentions on Kalimnos and Spit for fireworks and explosives


Police on Kalimnos And Spit Five local residents were detained, against whom a criminal case has been instituted for illegal storage And Distribution of pyrotechnic products and explosive devicesas well as for Storage of narcotic substances And weapons.

Detention became the result of operational planning General Regional Police Directorate of the Southern Aegean Sea and targeted inspections conducted by police services to combat illegal storage, trade and use of fireworks and firecrackers throughout the festive period of Easter:

  • On Kalimnos, during a search in the house of a 34-year-old local resident, in the basement (garage) were found:
    • 45.8 kg of explosive emulsion substance
    • 10 kg of chemical explosives
    • 93 kg of homemade explosive devices (based on dynamite)
    • 23 meters of slow wick
    • 22.1 kg of ammonium
    • 7.5 kg of fertilizers
  • On a spit, during a search in a store and a house of two local residents (a 40-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman), found:
    • 20 931 pyrotechnic products (firecrackers, fireworks, etc.)
    • 4 kg and 788 grams of gunpowder
    • 15 meters of a wick
    • 52.5 narcotic tablets without a recipe
    • Knife with a blade 30.5 cm
  • During a search in the house of two local residents aged 27 and 62 years, they were found in the storage:
    • 49 homemade explosive devices consisting of gunpowder and wick
    • 23 firecrackers
    • 25.5 meters of a wick

All pyrotechnic products, explosive devices and other evidence found seized. The arrested will be transferred to The prosecutor's office of the first instance of the braid.

  • The manufacture, trade, purchase, storage and use of firecrackers and devices for their launch is prohibited.
  • The purchase of Bengal lights and fireworks is illegal. Do not buy them.
  • Do not let children use or make them on their own.
  • Tell the children about the risks of serious injuries, amputation and even death.
  • Do not let them approach places where pyrotechnic funds are illegally launched, since no one guarantees that an accident will happen.
  • Adults should not use Bengal lights and fireworks, as there is a risk that children will imitate you.
  • Do not forget that Bengal lights and fireworks are not toys, but extremely dangerous materials, and their use is a danger to physical inviolability and life itself.
