The Minister of Health provides DNA of newborn children in Greece to private individuals in the United States

Greek society is shocked by information according to which the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis transfers DNA newborn children in Greece to private companies in the USA.

This deal is violated Any concept of protection of the most sensitive personal data of millions of residents of the country. This may seem like a script for science fiction or an extreme conspiracy theory, but, unfortunately, this is not so. This is not a remake of films like Gattacaand a painful today's reality.

Let's start from the very beginning. All newborns that are born in Greece already 50 years fully checked Institute of Health of the Child (Ιυπ) on various genetic diseases. In recent years, however, in the United States, as well as in private clinics in Europe, the so -called genetic test began to be used, which – if parents want this, allows you to conduct a detailed cartography of the child’s DNA to detect possible genetic mutations using blood fence. This is called the analysis of the entire genome.

In this context Adonis Georgiadis signed a secret (!) “Program agreement” on May 17, 2024 with companies Realgenix And BeginNings. First is a subsidiary of an American giant genetic data Plumcarerway. While BeginNings was founded by a clinical geneticist Petros Tsipuras And Matthew Jawai Audzhla.

The agreement emphasizes that the goal is to introduce comprehensive control over the full genome of newborns in Greece before 2029, “By applying technologies for sequencing and analysis of the DNA of a new generation.”

This project called FIRST STEPS will be implemented in two stages (1.1.2025 – 31.3.2026 And 1.4.2026 – 31.3.2029), with the alleged participation 100,000 newborn! Moreover, according to the agreement, BeginNings Already received (?) DNA 20,000 newborns who were born between January and March 2025.

Realgenix The cost of the project will also fully cover, which will cost 50,000,000 Euro, since access and management, as they want, are much more valuable DNA of hundreds of thousands of residents of Greece.

However, the most outrageous in all this is that the transfer of DNA of newborn will occur without the knowledge or consent of parentssince three of the five drops of blood that collects Child Health Institute (Ιυπ) from all children of the country, will be transferred to American companies.

Moreover, this agreement is not displayed in Διαύγεια (platform for transparency of state decisions), since Article 10, entitled “Code of Privacy”provides, among other things, that “The entire draft of this program agreement and any conclusions are considered confidential and, as such, are governed primarily by the parties involved”.

As we understand, this step jeopardizes the most sensitive personal data not only 100,000 newborns who will be “recorded” for life, but also their relatives, as well as future descendants who will have a related DNA.

A storm of protests in Institute of Health of the Child (Ιυπ), his scientific council unanimously and clearly announced “Problems of ethics and deontology, which causes cooperation in such a large -scale project to control the genomes of newborns”. Moreover, as noted Child Health Institutethis particular technique is still at the experimental stage, and its effectiveness is unknown.

Adonis Georgiadis He was forced to answer under the pressure of revelations that he would “take into account” contradictions Ιυπ When implementing a program that, as he said, will be useful for public health.

In short, the program continues, and it is not known how many thousands of Greeks have lost their most sensitive personal data forever, and what consequences it will have in the future, because we remind you that the agreement has entered into force with 1.1.2025 and involves sending American companies 20,000 DNA samples until March 2025.

For example, Greek children can be the first “experimental” for “smart patrolling” programs based on DNA. Thus Mr. Georgiadis I must answer immediately:

• How many newborn DNA samples were still transferred to two companies?
• Why, if the program is useful for public health, according to the agreement, it was characterized as “confidential”?
• Why do not they ask parents if they agree to transfer their children to two companies in the United States?

The government must speak on this issue to explain if they agree with the actions of its minister.
