The coastal road of Larisa-Volos “disappeared” shortly before its opening

Literally “disappeared” most of the new coastal highway, which connected Larisa to hair shortly before its opening at the end of July.

The problem was formed on the 12th kilometer between Helicocapos and Keramidi, and concerned the project of the former “blue” governor K. Agorastos.

The new path connects two districts, passing along the coast of the Aegean Sea. In addition to the need for this project for obvious reasons, it is expected that it will give a new tourist impetus to a wider region. Construction work on the famous coastal corridor connects the Rakopotamos River in the Larisa district with the Kramidi district in the Magnisi district.

Then it was assumed that it would be completed for 2.5 years, but now it is already in the sixth year, and the term of completion, after extending last year, July 30. ”

A 12 kilometer project has a total budget of 15 million euros financed from the state investment program of the Thessalian region. It is located within the administrative boundaries of the districts of Larisa and Magnesi.

Former Governor Kostas Agorastos in January 2020 rejoiced at the development of the project and the approval of environmental conditions, since the new coastal road was located within the boundaries of Natura's zones of the protected territory of Karl – Mavrovuni – Kafalobriso Velestino – Velorori, which is also the place of social significance and at the same time falls under the zone of special protection, as it is a refuge of wildlife and is subject to strict environmental restrictions.

“We are faced with difficulties in developing a project, in obtaining environmental conditions. This is a very complex and multifaceted project, which have tried to promote for many years. We coped, received the approval of environmental conditions and give a way out of the impasse for residents and vacationers of the region, give an impulse and oxygen for development ”, Said Kostas Agrastos.

Nevertheless, someone must take responsibility for the collapse of the new coastal highway of Larisa-Volos.
