The head of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association, Alexei Podchekoldin, predicts the mass outcome of brands from China from the Russian market:
“Dozens of Chinese brands are not gathering in Russia, but are imported from the PRC. And the demand for them is low. After all, if the company cannot contain a network of service centers in the Russian Federation and quickly, under warranty, provide spare parts and repair, then few trust it. In 2025, we will see that we will have even less Chinese brands. ”
According to Podchekoldin, only a few manufacturers from the PRC opened assembly lines and service centers in Russia, and provided access to spare parts. Among them Changan, Chery, Geely and Haval. Now in the Russian Federation about 100 brands of cars are presented in the primary and secondary markets, quotes His The Moscow Times:
- 60% of them are Chinese,
- about 30% – Russian,
- 5-6% – officially departed from Russia.
The head of Road added that such a proportion can be preserved until the end of 2025. Prior to this, representatives of dealerships warned of the departure from Russia from Russia.
We are talking about Chinese brands having a minimum client base – Livan, Kaiyi, SWM, Foton and others. Director of the Department of New Cars of Rolf, Nikolai Ivanov, notes:
“Dealers have stopped investing in these brands. At the same time, we can talk about the same type of Chinese cars, because it is, in fact, the group of Chery, Geely, Great Wall and Changan. They make similar cars with similar technologies, price and design. Plus, they are all in one price segment, therefore, in the price category up to 2-3 million rubles, a very stubborn struggle between them. ”
After the start of a full -scale war in Ukraine, all international automakers left Russia – they closed production and stopped supplying finished cars.
At the end of November, Artem Sokolov, the head of the Avito Auto commercial unit team, stated that the share of Chinese brands among new cars in Russia at the end of the year reached 68%. According to Avtostat, the TOP-10 for sales in the Russian Federation of new cars included seven brands from the PRC, including HAVAL (12.08%), Chere (10.07%), Geely (9.8%). Together, the share of Chinese cars was 47.35%.
