Warsaw: For the death of the child, the mother and her roommate received 10 years in prison

In the Polish capital, the verdict of the young couple was announced-19-year-old Carolina V. and Damian G. Their 4-year-old baby fell into boiling water, died a week later, and his mother was ready to “fry and feed him dogs.”

Parents did not call an ambulance to the child suffering from painful burns, and after death they buried him in the forest and concreted the burial place. On March 14, the District Court of Warsaw Prague-afternoon found them guilty and sentenced them to 10 years in prison.

On the first of October 2022, the great-grandmother of 4-year-old Leon wrote a statement to the police about the disappearance of the child. A week later, in Gurki near Harvolin (Masovetsky Voivodeship), they found the boy’s body buried in the forest. The prosecutor's office announced the arrest of the mother of the child and her cohabitant – they were charged both, Writes The publication “Warsaw here”.

As the investigation showed, the baby fell into a children's bath with boiling water and received vast burns, but they did not call an ambulance. According to the accused, the boy died about a week after the incident. After his death, the man buried his body in the forest, and then filled this place with a layer of concrete.

Experts of the Warsaw Medical University believe that the most likely cause of the death of the child was the consequences of burns. The roommate of Carolina Damian said about those tragic events that he was alone with Leon that evening. In the evening, he enjoyed the furnace to heat the water for bathing a boy:

“I poured hot water into the bath and saw that water began to drip from the pipes. I went to the basement to see what was happening. “

Meanwhile, the child stepped into boiling water, fell in pain and received vast burns. Damian continued:

“I heard a cry. Leon was in the children's bath. I took his hand, but he could not rise and fell. I pulled it out. “

According to his testimony, the baby’s back and legs were completely red. Soon after what happened, Carolina returned home. But the couple did not call the doctors to the child, since both were afraid that because of what happened they would take away the children (they had two more).

According to the testimony, the couple tried to save the boy on their own, applying water compresses. A few days later, when Carolina entered Leon's room, she saw a terrible picture:

“He was lying on the floor, all in vomiting, and only pronounced the“ mother ”.”

Young people, according to them, tried to reanimate the boy, but this did not help – Leon died. They decided to bury Leon on their own. Damian says:

“Carolina's idea was to drop him in the Vistula. She also said that it can be frying and feeding the dogs (!). ”

In the end, the man dug a hole near the house and buried the baby there. The next day, Monday, he bought cement and walled up the burial place.

The prosecutor requested for both 20 years in prison, recognizing that the 25-year period of imprisonment would be too harsh:

“The accused is exclusively young and expressed remorse. They regretted the accident. ”

And the judge, justifying the 10-year sentence, said:

“The accused should still have a chance to return to society.”

The sentence of deprivation of liberty for 10 years has been issued, but it is not final. Lawyers of Carolina and Damian said they would appeal.

In his oral justification, judge Adam Radzishevsky recalled the circumstances of the tragedy and referred to the testimony of witnesses. He pointed out that the defendants realized the fact of the act of act and explained his unwillingness to seek medical help for the child to lose his children.

The judge remembered how the explanations of the accused were changing during the trial. He came to the conclusion that Damian and Carolina told different versions of what happened to shift responsibility to each other (reminiscent of tactics parents of a little angelos from Crete). They said: “I wanted to call an ambulance, but he did not want to” and vice versa. The judge considers the testimony given to the defendants immediately after the tragedy, which testified to joint responsibility.

The minister of Themis also added that the accused are young, they were immigrants from dysfunctional families and did not have life experience, and the children were for them a “side effect of adulthood.” He noted that no circumstances were discovered indicating the presence of direct intent to kill the boy.

The judge emphasized that the 10-year period of imprisonment is sufficient, since the defendants are young people and have a chance to return to society, especially since they have two more children.
