The bus and railway routes in the Greek capital will control 130 police officers, the Minister of Protection of Citizens of Citizens Mikhalis Chrysochoidis said on February 11.
At the conference “Together we are designing a new Attica transport card”, organized by the Association of the Development of Western Athens in the municipality of the agia Anargiri-Kamatero, he said quotes CNN GREECE:
“Within the framework of the program we developed, we made a decision and place about 130 police officers in suburban buses and trains, where they will be in the uniform or in civilian clothes from the moment the routes began to go to midnight and patrols. On the one hand, passengers should feel safe, and on the other hand, we must fight offenses that are observed and create so many complaints and, ultimately, interference for transport. ”
Mikhalis Chihoidis drew special attention to the features of the Western Attica region, saying:
“This is due to a critical problem related to crime, illegal drug trafficking from Western Attica, which lies with a huge burden on the region. I believe that this is our desire, on the one hand, to make our transport safe, and on the other hand, to fight offenses and crime, will become another positive contribution, along with everything that will be discussed at the conference. ”
The Minister of Protection of Citizens also called on Οασα To “accelerate” the procedures for recruiting special forces, whose exceptional purpose will be the protection of public transport so that police officers who will be involved in emergency cases within the framework of the pilot program could return to their duties.
