Lithuania President Gitanas Nauceda noted:

“This is a physical disconnection on the last remaining element of our dependence on the Russian and Belarusian energy system. We stopped buying any energy resources from Russia. It was our answer to the war in Ukraine, which erupted in February 2022.”

President of Latvia Edgar Rinkevich assured that the Baltic countries are “as ready” as much as possible to join the European power grid. All institutions and companies responsible for power supply and ensure national security work in an intensified mode.

Kalle Kilk, the chairman of the board of the Estonian system operator Elering, believes that shutdown from Brall will increase Estonia’s energy security. Important substations and high -voltage lines of the country from February 7 to 9 will be under the protection of the police.
