Syria: terrorists instead "dictator"

Militants supporting the new government in Syria executed at least 35 peopleand this does not count the many hundreds killed and tortured earlier.

Most of those executed were government officials of the deposed ruler Bashar al-Assadreports Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Dozens of members of local armed groups under the control of the new rulers have been arrested for their participation in “security operations” in the region Homs.

Combat units carried out “acts of retaliation” against members Alawite minorityto which Assad belongs. They used “the state of chaos, the proliferation of weapons and their connections with the new rulers”, to “settle old scores”said a statement from the center, which relies on a network of sources in Syria.

Previously official news agency SANA reported that the new rulers blamed members “criminal group” that they pretended to be “security forces” during a security operation to commit unspecified “violations”.

The Human Rights Monitoring Center reported “arbitrary mass arrests, brutal torture, attacks on religious symbols, desecration of bodies, and arbitrary and brutal executions of civilians.” These crimes were committed with “unprecedented cruelty and violence.”

According to the organization Civil Peace Groupcivilians in several villages in the Homs region became victims of the operation. The organization condemned “unjustifiable violations of the law,” including the killing of unarmed men.

In December 2024 Islamist-led militants Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) captured Damascus, overthrowing the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. The new rulers claim moderation, but their actions, especially towards Alawites and Christians, show that the new government is likely to be much more brutal than the previous one.

However, the current terrorists suit both the West and the Saudis. This means that they will be given at least the image of moderates.
