This morning, January 25, the Archbishop of Albania Anastasius died in the Evangelizmos hospital – he was 95 years old.
As our publication reported, the archbishop was delivered to Athens From the tyrant on January 3, the aircraft airport at Elefsin's military airport. He was treated at the Evangelismmos hospital because of the virus that struck it on December 30.
Yesterday, on Friday, January 24, his state of health worsened, and the doctors, despite serious efforts, could not save his life. The report on the official page of the archbishopia says:
“Archbishop of Tiranna, Durres and all of Albania, Mr. Anastasius rested in the Lord. The Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania with a deep sorrow reports the excommunication of the blessed archbishop of the Tiran, and all Albania Mr. Anastasia from the church. Today, January 25, 2025, at 8:30 (Greece time), his bliss died at the age of 95, in the hospital “On Evangelismos” in Athens, due to polyorgan deficiency. He was hospitalized for several days at the Gigai hospital in a tyrant.

The blessed archbishop of Mr. Anastasius was a restorer and renewal of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, which he literally resurrected from dust, ruins after the fall of the atheistic regime. With his godless vision and indefatigable labor, he rebuilt church life from scratch, erected hundreds of temples, founded educational and charitable institutions, raised a new clergy, carrying out continuous sacrificial service for more than 33 years. The eternal memory of this! ”
