Free tours of the Greek capital will begin this year on January 18. Learn more about Athens Walks.

Guided tours that residents don't have to pay foras part of the “Athens Walks”, are organized by the municipality according to archaeological sites, museums and areas.

There is a great opportunity to explore the city's rich heritage through Athens Walks, with free guided tours organized in collaboration with the community co-operative enterprise Action Plus. Excursion participants will only have to pay the entrance fee to museums and archaeological sites.

Athens Walks begins on Saturday 18 January. The program includes excursions to the Byzantine and Christian Museum, the National Sculpture Gallery, the National Gallery, the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, the Municipal Gallery of Athens, the Acropolis, and the Numismatic Museum.

Athens Walks is also aimed at children aged 7–10 years and social groups who face barriers to accessing culture, tells CNN Greece. The program aims to promote inclusion, social and cultural equality.

Each excursion has a certain participation limit, the order of priority is respected. The excursions are funded by the Attica 2021-2027 program and are part of the project “Actions to promote sustainable development and social cohesion through the social and solidarity economy in the Municipality of Athens.”
