Arrest at the airport “El. Venizelos”: women stole passengers' luggage


At Athens airport “El. Venizelos, two women, 38 and 36 years old, were arrested for stealing passengers' luggage.

They were detained on Tuesday evening, January 14, by security officers from the Athens Airport Police Department. The women are charged with aggravated theft by accessory and violating the addictive substance law.

According to ΕΛΑΣduring the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the accused had removed a total of 8 bags and suitcases from passengers from the baggage claim lanes since November 2024, after the arrival of domestic flights. They took the stolen goods to their home in the Virona area.

During the search, the police found and confiscated writes CNN Greece:

  • a certain amount of clothing and luggage items – bags, wallets, shoes, hats, glasses,
  • a small amount of raw hemp,
  • passport,
  • 90 euros, 2000 Angolan kwanzas, 25 Bulgarian leva, 80 Polish zlotys, 250 South African rands, 30,050 Russian rubles and 20 Swedish kronor.

Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor's office.
