A police chief and his wife died in a traffic accident while trying to avoid an obstacle on the road

A 53-year-old deputy police chief and his 45-year-old wife were victims of a traffic accident.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening on the Athens-Lamia national highway, 500 meters before Schimatari, and was caused by a car trunk lying on the road.

The exact circumstances of the accident are still unknown; an object found on the road, similar to a trunk on the roof of a car, is being investigated.

According to preliminary data, the motorcycle veered off course due to the fact that the trunk of a car moving in front of the motorcycle fell onto the road. As a result, the motorcycle driver had to maneuver to avoid a collision with him. The vehicle went off the road and the husband and wife were fatally injured when the motorcycle overturned.

An ambulance and traffic police immediately rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The couple is survived by two children. An investigation is underway.
