Galatsi: father left 6-year-old daughter with unknown woman and went "to the toilet"

A 42-year-old man in Galati left his young daughter with an unknown woman and returned almost an hour later drunk. He was previously accused of domestic violence.

The intervention of a stranger, with whom the man was leaving his six-year-old daughter, may have helped avoid dangerous consequences for the child. She notified the theater management and the police that the father, being intoxicated, was planning to leave with the child.

The woman said writes newsbeast.gr that a shocking event occurred a few days ago, during Christmas week, during a theatrical performance in Galati. Father and daughter were among the spectators when suddenly the father turned to the woman sitting directly behind them and asked her to look after the child for a while while he went to the toilet:

“He spoke to me on a personal basis: can you look after the child so that I can go to the toilet? Of course I tell him. This took between 45 and 50 minutes. Shortly before the end of the first part he returned. The man didn't stand. He walked across the seats to sit down, he was clearly drunk.”

The applicant, seeing her father's condition, decided to act immediately, which became a salvation for the little girl. She says:

“He called her to leave, she cried. And when he took her away, I told him: please, because I see that you are dizzy, don’t take the child in this state, because you will definitely break. He looks at me and says: I'll take a taxi. He went and wandered outside, staggering. I notified theater staff about the incident. They made him sit in other seats in front. There was an orderly sitting behind us, who later told us that he was sleeping. I would not be able to sleep peacefully in such a situation if I knew that there was a danger to the child.”

The girl's mother was called to the Galati police station, and at first she could not believe what was happening. The couple is divorced, and the baby came to her dad for the holidays. The woman says:

“My daughter called me from her father's mobile phone and I heard that she was sad, but did not explain why. And then her father called me and said that he was at the Galati police station and I needed to go and pick up my daughter. When I arrived at the station, the police informed me what had happened. My daughter also told me that during the show her father was drinking beer and sleeping.”

The girl's father is accused of putting his daughter in serious danger. He had previous dealings with the police regarding domestic violence.
