North Korean soldiers were captured and are being interrogated by the SBU (video)

Ukrainians captured two North Korean soldiers, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and the Security Service reported.

The President thanked the soldiers of tactical group No. 84 of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the paratroopers who captured these people, noting:

“These are two soldiers who, although they were wounded, survived, were taken to Kyiv, are communicating with SBU investigators. This task was not easy: usually the Russians and other military from North Korea finish off their wounded and do everything to ensure that no evidence of participation remains. one state – North Korea – in the war against Ukraine.”

According to the SBU, the prisoners do not speak Ukrainian, English or Russian. Communication with them takes place through Korean language translators in cooperation with South Korean intelligence.

At the time of capture one of the foreigners had with him a Russian-style military ID issued in the name of another person registered in the Republic of Tuva of the Russian Federation. During interrogation, he told SBU officers that This document was issued to him in Russia in the fall of 2024. Then, part of the North Korean combat units spent one week coordinating with Russian groups.

He stated that he was born in 2005, was a marksman and had served in North Korea since 2021. The prisoner, just like the Russian military at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, emphasizes that he was supposedly going to an exercise, and not to a war against Ukraine.

The second prisoner of war confirmed the testimony of his compatriot. He gave some of the answers to questions in writing, as he had an injured jaw. He was born in 1999, and has served in the DPRK army since 2016 as a reconnaissance sniper.
