A drunk 55-year-old man in Crete drove in oncoming traffic for almost an hour, not realizing his violation and the danger.
The incident occurred on Friday morning at ΒΟΑΚ (Vorios Odikos Axonas Kritis), writes newsbeast.gr. The driver ignored oncoming cars that were passing by him – a tragedy could happen at any moment, because he was driving at a fairly high speed. The risk of getting into a traffic accident was very high.
Finally, at the Spili intersection, he was stopped by the traffic police. As it turned out, the man was driving while drunk. He was fined a large amount and deprived of his license for 6 months:
- fined 100 euros for driving in the opposite direction;
- 700 euros was the fine for drunk driving;
- license was suspended for 90 days due to intoxication;
- he lost his license for 60 days due to failure to wear a seat belt;
- The license was withdrawn for 20 days for driving in the opposite direction.
In addition, the traffic police removed the license plates and did not allow us to pick up the car. Anyway, I went for a ride…
