Zelensky's interview: elections in Ukraine are possible only after the end of the war (video)

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said in an interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman that elections in Ukraine will become possible after the lifting of martial law or changes in legislation:

“In Ukraine, everyone understands that this cannot be done until the war is over, or the legislation needs to be changed. I believe that elections will take place immediately after the end of martial law. This is according to the law. Or parliamentarians need to get together and change the legislation, which will be very difficult to do , because society is against it.”

The Ukrainian president explained that society is against holding elections, since it is necessary to create an infrastructure for voting for the 8.5 million Ukrainians who have traveled abroad:

“Millions of people in the occupied territories. I’m not even talking about the occupation of 2014, but about the occupation that happened now. What to do with those people? This is a difficult question. And one of the most unfair looks like voting without a million military. That is this is impossible”.

Zelensky also noted that in order to hold elections during a war, it will be necessary to change the voting system, in particular, consider the possibility of online voting. However, this idea raises concerns due to potential cyber attacks and other threats.
