From next year AMKA will be connected to a unique certified contact number – ΕΟΠΥΥ switches to digital format.
Connecting the AMCA comes first in the implementation of large-scale reform. The main task is transition to digital technologies and full electronic interaction of all applicationsbe it the agency's relationships with suppliers or insureds, or the opportunity full access to the health insurance file in real data.
ΕΟΠΥΥ management pays special attention control the use of resources in real time and is taking measures in this direction. As its administrator Teano Carpodini said at a press conference, for the past two years the agency has been exercising control in important categories of medical equipment. It introduced unique verification code in categories where the largest number of violations were recorded, to confirm that the service was provided to the patient.
Ms Carpodini said that the application for an interface with the National Telecommunications Registry will be completed by the end of January, so Each AMCA will have a unique certified contact telephone number. That is, when a referral is issued, the patient gives consent, which means “I am seeing a doctor, and this test is really prescribed for me,” as well as during the examination. Ms. Carpodini notes:
“This is one of the biggest reforms that we are working on together with the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Ministry of Health.”
She explained that patients can simply press the “object” button (“εναντίωσης”) file a complaint about tests ordered and performed on their behalf or medications they did not receive, illegal fees, or inappropriate behavior:
“We put too much emphasis on this and try to make it as simple and convenient as possible for our citizens.”
Over the past year, ΕΟΠΥΥ has been conducting a pilot program to send medications to the homes of 2,000 patients suffering from certain diseases each month. This measure will be extended to all patients receiving expensive medications. As Ms. Carpodini announced, the process will be completed by the end of March: about 120,000 patients will be able to receive expensive medications at home at will. The cost of this measure is estimated at 10 million euros over two years.
