2 Greek dishes included in the top 100 best in the world (video)

Greek gastronomy continues to receive accolades, with TasteAtlas magazine ranking two Greek dishes among the best in the world.

This happened just a few days after Greek cuisine recognized best in the world. She left behind Italian, French and Spanish cuisines, which were among the favorites to win this title, and confidently became the leader.

The Atlas of Taste publishes the 100 best dishes in the world every year. This year, the best in the world was lechona from Colombia. This is a traditional dish consisting of roasted suckling pig stuffed with onions, fresh herbs and various spices.

At number 16 on the TasteAtlas list are ribs from Greece. The culinary guide says:

“Grilled lamb chops are a traditional Greek dish popular throughout the country and are usually eaten as a main dish. They are typically marinated in a combination of olive oil, lemon juice and a variety of fresh herbs and then cooked on traditional charcoal grills. They are combined with potatoes, salads and tzatziki*.”

Kleftiko took 57th place in the prestigious list:

“Kleftiko is a typical Greek dish, usually prepared at festive occasions and festivals, consisting of a succulent piece of lamb or goat wrapped in aluminum foil and baked in closed ovens. The name comes from the Thieves, the mountain rebels of the Greek Revolution who cooked their food underground so that no aromas or fumes would spread, as they might reveal their location. Today, meat is cooked over low heat in a container designed for this purpose so that it remains juicy and does not fall off the bones.”

*Tzatziki is a cold appetizer sauce made from yogurt, fresh cucumber and garlic, a traditional dish of Greek cuisine.
