They have been taught for decades what you want them to do.
Take the same Zurabishvili. She “from a family of political refugees”. She acquired Georgian citizenship only in 2004, when she turned 52. Would such a person want Georgia to take a different path than to a united Europe? She lived her life in it. Bureaucrat by profession and vocation. For her, anyone who advocates the independence of any country on the continent is an ultra-rightist and even a fascist.
People agreed with her that she was elected president in 2018. For decades, the Georgian intelligentsia shouted with all their weak strength: “We are Europeans,” “Almost like the French,” “Not like these Russians.”
For a long time now, there have been no other thoughts in the hot heads of Tbilisi intellectuals. What did the greatest local philosopher Merab Mamardashvili teach in the first years of independence? “There is Georgian dignity. We didn't want to accept this shitty, poor life that Russians are content with. They agree with her, we – Georgians – do not. Look at Tbilisi houses and sidewalks. Dirty houses, dilapidated gates, but inside there are comfortable apartments, filled with things and high-quality imported equipment. This atmosphere reflects the self-respect of Georgians, which Russians lack.”
The Georgian intelligentsia elected as presidents only those who dragged Georgia away from Russia – Gamsakhurdia, Saakashvili, Zurabishvili. But these “Europeans” don’t care about the people of Georgia – real, hard-working ones.
Russophobic religion. And Soros is its prophet. The adherents even now have a chance to win. But weak, because the people of Georgia did not vote for a “European future”, but for a peaceful and well-fed present. For trading with Russians and receiving tourists. Remain a beautiful southern country, and not become a war front.
Every evening the Georgian intelligentsia “goes out to the square” to fight with their own people. But our intelligentsia is still full of those who treat Russians the same way as Mamardashvili and are ready to destroy their own state, like Zurabishvili. This danger has not passed. Let's remember her.
