The pilot program “Front Door” and an increase in the number of inspectors on dozens of bus lines allowed an increase in revenue by 10.45%, or 4.88 million euros, compared to the corresponding period in 2023 – for September, October, November.
Last year, revenues amounted to 47.4 million euros, this year – 52.28 million euros. In 2023, there were 1,254,401 control checks, and in the corresponding months of 2024, 1,919,613 were carried out. The increase in income is due to increased control, which amounted to about 53%, as well as the introduction of income from the pilot measure “Front Door”, writes CNN Greece.
A greater increase in revenue, by 1.36 million euros (30%), was observed in Thessaloniki, where the number of inspections by ΟΣΕΘ increased by 28%. For September-October-November 2024, collections reached 5,821,307 million euros, while for the corresponding period in 2023 they amounted to 4,463,472 million euros (an increase of 30.42%). Control inspections for the same quarter in 2024 were 52,609, and in 2023 – 41,075 (an increase of 28.08%).
The overall increase in public transport revenue from September to November 2024 was €6.24 million, “reflecting the successful implementation of measures to curb fare evasion.” Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Vasilis Ikonomou notes, quotes CNN Greece:
