Do you want to please and surprise your loved ones by placing an unusual dish on the festive table? Yes, easily!
To bake a layered “Christmas tree” stuffed with spinach and cheese you will need:
- 170 gr. frozen spinach (chopped, thawed and drained)
- 110 g grated mozzarella
- 60 g feta cheese
- 70 g Greek yogurt FAGE (5% fat)
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 2 artichoke hearts (chopped)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (spices to taste)
- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 45 g grated parmesan
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds.
Also, to grease the Christmas tree before placing it in the oven you will need:
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon milk.
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine spinach, mozzarella, feta cheese, yogurt, garlic, artichokes and black pepper.
Unroll the puff pastry sheet and place it on the baking sheet. Cut out a triangle shape, like a Christmas tree.
Spread the spinach mixture and place a second layer of tree puff pastry on top of the spinach layer.
Gently press the sides of the “tree” (make a “pinch”).
Cut strips 2.5 cm thick on each side and twist each one.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg and milk. Brush the Christmas tree with the mixture.
Sprinkle sesame seeds and grated Parmesan on top.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
