European countries stop providing asylum to Syrian citizens (video)

Ten European countries, including Greece, have suspended asylum applications from Syrians.

How reports publication “Current Time”, this decision was made Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Finland, UK, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Plans to make a similar decision France.

Berlin clarifies that there is no talk of deporting Syrians yet. In Austria, on the contrary, they are preparing a “repatriation and deportation program.” Other European countries also say to stop processing Syrian asylum applications.

German migration authorities have temporarily suspended processing asylum applications for Syrian citizens. On Monday, December 9, this information was confirmed by the press secretary of the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sonja Kok. About the decision of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) reported Der Spiegel magazine, quoting Kok:

“BAMF takes a very close look at what each individual case is like. This also includes assessing the situation in the country of origin.”

According to the press secretary of the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, The migration office has the right to defer a decision on granting asylum if the situation in the applicant's country is unclear. This is exactly what applies to Syria now. Kok's assessment is that, in practice, Syrian applications will now be “sorted down the pile, with other asylum claims given priority.”

According to Der Spiegel, due to events in Syria, the BAMF has suspended any asylum decisions on applications from Syrian citizens. A department representative called the situation in the country confusing and unpredictable. Therefore, any decision to grant asylum would have “feet of clay,” the official said. Meanwhile, the Syrians themselves are starting to come back home.
