How much will a weekend in Trikala (mountain Corinthia) cost you?

Gasoline, travel, accommodation and food – we've compiled all the costs to help you estimate the cost of a weekend in Trikala, mountain Corinthia.

When Trikala, mountainous Corinthia and other beautiful places located near Athens enter their season (which in this case is winter), the cost of living increases sharply.

In general, Trikala is not an expensive place, but we, Athenians, raise prices ourselves with our hype, because we remember this tourist destination for only two months a year. Let's see how much will a wonderful winter excursion to Trikala cost?.

Cost of travel and gasoline
With a gasoline price of 1.80 euros per liter and a car consumption of 9 liters per 100 kilometers, the trip will cost you approximately 50 euros. Add 14 euros for the fare and the total is 64 euros, depending on the number of people in the car.

Accommodation
Now let's move on to the most difficult aspect – accommodation. The cheapest option we found for weekends in December and January was €91 for a small double room with breakfast at the wonderful Mountain View Hotel in Mesia Trikala. Fantastic options also include the Pigi Tarlamba Hotel in Upper Trikala (122 euros for a double room with breakfast and fireplace), Aipytos Guesthouse in Middle Trikala (121 euros for a double room with breakfast), Orades Guesthouse in Upper Trikala (101 euros for a double room with breakfast) and Guest House Diochri in Kato Trikala (131 euros for a deluxe double room with breakfast, fireplace and hot tub). This puts the average price at €113.20 for a double room or just under €60 per person per night.

Nutrition
In most of Trikala's popular taverns, such as Hani tou Chania in Ano Trikala (Χάνι του Χανιά στα Άνω Τρίκαλα), with amazing grills and homemade dishes, Platanos in Kato Trikala, where there are so many delicious and varied snacks, as well as in traditional taverns Decleris with its famous meat dishes, which creatively combine local traditions, the price for dinner is around 25 euros per person, usually with wine.

Let's sum it up
If you're planning on spending the weekend with your significant other, with one night on Saturday night and three meals a day – two on Saturday and one on Sunday before you return – the total cost is €172 per person. If you want another Friday night and another Friday night dinner then the total cost is €262 per person.
