Shortly after the start of the SPD election campaign in Germany, Chancellor and presidential candidate Olaf Scholz unexpectedly visited Kyiv for the first time in 2.5 years.
He announced writes Euronews that by the end of December Berlin will supply arms worth 650 million euros to Ukraine. Upon arrival in the Ukrainian capital, he said that Germany “will remain Ukraine's strongest supporter in Europe.”

In Kyiv, Scholz will meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The head of the German government arrived in Kyiv by train; his visit was not announced in advance “for security reasons.”
