President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on the voluntary return of deserters to service.
However, it only applies to those who for the first time left military units without permission or deserted and decided to return to duty. The law provides for the resumption of monetary allowances in this case. The draft law card informs about this, posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
During martial law military personnel who for the first time left military units or places of service without permission, deserted and voluntarily arrived at the place of service, expressing their readiness to continue military service, the contract continues.
It is also expected resumption of cash, food, clothing and other types of support, benefits and social guarantees.
Excited criminal proceedingsprovided for in Articles 407 and 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in relation to military personnel who for the first time left their places of service without permission and expressed their readiness to continue military service, now are not grounds for refusing to renew their contract.
Previously, the Verkhovna Rada voted for a bill that proposed not to punish for the first unauthorized departure from a military unit or desertion if the military man returned on his own and the commander allows him to continue serving.
