Family tragedy in Xanthi: 16 year old boy died from a gas leak two of his three sisters are fighting for their lives in hospital. The family's mother and eldest daughter are out of danger in the hospital's therapeutic ward.

According to information from ThessToday.grciting testimony from a local resident, if the mother had not gone to wake up her children, the situation could have been even worse. “She went to wake them up early in the morning so they could go to school and saw them half-conscious. We called an ambulance, they were taken to the hospital, this is a real tragedy. We can't believe it.”

According to residents, a gas cylinder was installed in the house two days ago, which, however, had been used before without any problems. The neighbors are saddened by the fate of the family, since the children’s father also died several years ago.

Two girls are in critical condition, they are connected to a ventilator, they will be transferred to a hospital with an intensive care unit. They urgently transferred to Hippocratio in Thessaloniki, to the intensive care unit, as their condition is assessed as particularly serious. The mother and the third girl are out of danger in the treatment ward, hospital sources said.

Earlier, the president also mentioned the tragedy in Xanthi PΟΕΔΗΝ M. Yannakas: “A 16-year-old boy died, two girls are in serious condition and are connected to a ventilator. They will probably be transferred to Hippocration in Thessaloniki. The mother and one of the girls are fine and out of danger.”

Firefighters are looking for the cause of a gas leak in the family's home.
