Greece: Operation TALOS

Five people were prosecuted in Operation Talos for child pornography.

The operation was carried out by the Electronic Crimes Investigation Department, and as part of it, criminal cases were initiated against five people for pornography of minors, actions committed via the Internet.

According to the Greek Police in Greece, as part of efforts to combat child pornography via the Internet, in the context of international cooperation, unknown Internet users were detected in Greece. They accessed application sites and had a large number of files with sexually explicit materials suitable for distribution and abuse of minors under 15 years of age.

As a result of the provision of information by the involved Internet providers and the declassification of messages, the persons involved, their home Internet connections, their place of residence were identified, writes CNN Greece.

As part of a coordinated police operation, from November 15 to November 23, 2024, employees of the Electronic Criminal Prosecutor's Office, with the assistance of police officers and other services, conducted house searches, during which the following were discovered and confiscated:

• 10 PC hard drives,

• 6 mobile devices,

• portable storage medium (USB),

• 2 portable computers (laptops),

• external hard drive.

During the on-site digital investigation of the above evidence, a large amount of materials (videos and photographs) of sexual abuse of minors of infancy, school and adolescence were discovered. In connection with this, three people were detained and arrested.

The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for further laboratory testing. The detainees were taken to the competent prosecutor's office.
