According to the popular Greek publication Zougla, the scheme to smuggle migrants from Turkey to Greece through the Aegean Sea involves the Gray Wolves, a well-known Turkish paramilitary ultranationalist organization.
In its publication, the publication reveals a serious migrant smuggling incident that led to the resignation of Oguz Akar Firat, president of the MHP in the city of Muğla, after his daughter's boat was caught trying to transport illegal migrants to Rhodes.
The incident occurred on October 7, 2024, when a ship owned by Yasemin Firat left Marmaris towards Rhodes, illegally carrying three passengers. Later, the same ship picked up several more people, bringing the total number of passengers to 5 people (2 men and 3 women). One of them had a criminal record for various crimes.
The ship entered Greek waters, the Greek coast guard discovered it and sent it to the port of Rhodes. The ship's captain, Baris Kaya, has disappeared. Three people, 2 women and one man, were taken to Kos. Another passenger who is wanted in Turkey applied for asylum, while 2 women returned back to Turkey.
Following the uproar caused in Turkey by the revelation of a migrant smuggling incident from the city of Mugla to the neighboring shores of Rhodes, Oguz Akar Firat was forced to resign as President of Mugla Province by the MHP. He justified himself by saying that the ship was… stolen (although it happened during the day!), and that the incident occurred without the knowledge of him and his daughter.
However, he was forced to make this statement “so as not to cause damage to the party,” and given that the matter received wide publicity in Turkey, he was forced to apologize and resign as president of his MHP party.

His son Cihanay Adigüzel fled to Greece because he committed economic crimes. In our country, he collaborated with the Kurds in the illegal smuggling of migrants.
His partner in Turkey was Güven Adiğüzel, another son of a politician. On May 30, 2024, Tuna Adigüzel transported migrants to Çanakkale along with three of his accomplices to Greece. It is learned that they were followed by a BMW car with markings, which confirms that it was provided by the Turkish Parliament. The driver of the deputy vehicle was another MHP member.
Tuna Adigüzel was eventually arrested for illegal migrant smuggling. In addition, after an internal investigation, 3 Turkish MPs were suspended for gold smuggling.
