The winter season for the firewood market began with a drop in temperature. Fireplaces – especially in Northern Greece – have become hotter, and with them the need for firewood has increased.
Demand for firewood
According to people working in the market, demand has increased in recent days, although it has not yet reached satisfactory levels. This is evidenced by the fact that many traders still have stock from last winter. However, as they note, demand is expected to increase even more with the onset of winter.
Prices this year are at the same or, in many cases, lower levels than last year. Many traders sell wood for no more than 100 euros per cubic meter, with prices rising depending on the quality of the wood:
- Pine: 100-110 euros per cubic meter. m.
- Oak: from 130 euros
- Mountain oak (Πουρνάρι): from 140 euros.
- Olive: from 149 euros per cubic meter
- Mixed wood: 110-130 euros.
In addition, there is no shortage of bonus offers: delivery, gift vouchers and others.
Heating oil
Meanwhile, distribution continues at a lower level than last year heating oil. The average price throughout the country is 1,191 euros per liter. The cheapest prefecture is Pieria with an average price of 1.156 euros per liter, followed by Drama and Attica with an average price of 1.16 and 1.161 euros respectively.
The most expensive The districts are the Dodecanese and the Cyclades, where the average price is 1.393 and 1.32 euros respectively.
